Inner Golden Water River in the Forbidden City

The jade_belt_shaped Inner Golden Water River in the Forbidden City meanders in the Square before the Gate of Supreme Harmony and enlivens the tranquil space. The spectacular five marble bridges on the River could serve as an example to reflect the hierarchical system of the feudal dynasties: the bridge in the middle was reserved for the emperor. With a length of 23.5 meters and a width of 6 meters, it is the most splendid bridge in the Forbidden City. The two bridges beside it were intended for princes and dukes. The other two were meant for high-ranking civil officials and military officers.
