Hall of Middle Harmony in the Forbidden City

The Hall of Middle Harmony in the Forbidden City had many functions: Before the emperor went to the Hall of Supreme Harmony to preside over grand ceremonies, he would come here first to accept felicitations of important officials. When honorary title was conferred upon empress dowager, he would come here to review the memorial drafted by officials. when the imperial pedigree was updated every ten years, he would come here to review it. One day before going to Agricultural Altar for self-plowing, he would come here to examine the farming tools. Before he offered sacrifices in the Temples and Altars, he would come here to read sacrificial writings. The Hall of Middle Harmony was also the very place to hold small-scale banquets.
