Many ornaments named Weng Zhong appeared in the Han Dy-nasty (206 BC-220 AD). It is said that Weng Zhong was a gen-eral in the Qin dynasty (221 BC-206 BC). His sumame was Ruan.He was very brave and had won many battles. Everyone who fought against him feared him. Emperor Qin Shihuang ordered to have his bronze statue built before the Xianyang Palace as a memorial and made this statue a symbol against evil spirit. It was in the Han dynasty that the people began to make standing gure of Weng Zhong in jade. There is a hole in the jade forlaily wear to get rid of the evil.
