Imitation Porcelain in the Forbidden City

Porcelain

The development of Chinese porcelain came to its peak in the glorious reigns of Kangxi (1662-1722), Yongzheng (1723-1735)and Qianlong (1736-1795). Famille-rose and enamel colors in-vented in the late Kangxi period became mature after the devel-opment in Yongzheng and Qianlong pe-riods and became the main decoration techniques of overglaze coloring in Jingdezhen. Porcelain imitating animals, plants, rocks, lacquer, ood and bronze is called “Imitation Porcelain”. This kind of por-celain is vivid, true to life and as beautiful as original. It fully represents the high level of porceporcelain pro-duction at that time.
