Gallery of Bronzes in the Forbidden City


Water-Tripod The Gallery of Bronzes is in the Palace of Obeying the Heaven.The origin of Chinese bronzes can date back t0 3000 B.C. They are historical witnesses to Chinese culture and oriental civilization. The appearance of bronze has an epoch-making sig-nificance in the development of productivity.

Bronze was closely connected with politics, economy, philosophy, culture and tech-nology of that time. The Palace Museum has a collection of over15,000 bronzes and only 148 bronzes are on display.
