Hall of Ultimate Supremacy in the Forbidden City

The Hall of Ultimate Supremacy in the Forbidden City was a quiet and elegant palace The father of Emperor Jiajing was born here. After Jiajing (r.1522-1566) became emperor, he insisted upon admitting his father posthumously as Emperor Xingxian and changed the name of his father’s birthplace to the Palace of Originating Auspiciousness. The Wanli emperor (r.1573-1620) moved to the Hall after the Palace of Heavenly Purity was burned down and once summoned ministers here for consultation.
