Hall of Character Cultivation in the Forbidden City

The Hall of Character Cultivation in the Forbidden City was intended as the office of he Super-Sovereign, a copy of the Hall of Mental Cultivation n in he architectural form. Before the 60th year of Qianlong reign (1795), he often gave internal banquets here to share happiness with important courtiers. In the late Qing dynasty, Empress Dowager Cixi used to dine here and received many foreign envoys and their wives in the Hall. It is now the exhibition gallery of Golden Bells and Jade Chime.
