Hall of Military Glory in the Forbidden City
The Hall of Military Glory in the Forbidden City is situated on the west of the Hall of Supreme Harmony. In the Ming Dynasty, the emperor stayed here for fast and often visited this informal hall; the empress also accepted the felicitations from titled ladies here on her birthday. In the Kangxi period (1662-1722), a publishing house was set up here. In the Qianlong period (1736-1795), it was used for carving and printing“Palace Books”, the most precious official books.
In September 2005, it became a painting gallery and exhibition place showing the Palace Books.
