Palace of Revering Yang in the Forbidden City
The Palace of Revering Yang was once the Concubine Prison in he Ming dynasty. A poor woman abandoned by Emperor Wanli gave birth here to Zhu Changluo, the future Emperor Guangzong. He cried to blindness and left the world before the enthronement of her beloved son.
In the Qing dynasty, the Palace of Revering Yang became a library of precious books, where emperors often dropped by to read at their leisure. It is now the Gallery of Enamel and Cloisonne. The remains of the old imperial library can still be detected here in the Palace.
